our adventure at the Rally for Sanity/Fear

We tried almost our hardest to go to the rally, but google sent us someplace strange and we got to the Metro station later than we meant to. Then we didn't have enough money on our fare cards so we started waiting in this giant line that came out of the station and went halfway down the block. You should really never wait in a line when you don't know what it is for. It could be a line to buy a hot pretzel or to receive an amateur body piercing. This particular line took over an hour and then at the front it split into six or seven separate lines for each metro card machine, at which point it became clear that everyone who wasn't a dope was walking past the whole line and cutting in during the confusion where it split into multiple lines. Meanwhile, the people in front of us the whole time were inexplicably sewing buttons onto a shirt with a needle and thread.

Anyway so then we put money on our cards but every train that went by was completely packed upon arrival so no one could get on whatsoever. It became apparent that the aforementioned non-dopey people were taking the train in the OPPOSITE direction to the end of the line so they could get on empty trains. But when we tried to do that, the WRONG direction train was already full. Then they couldn't get the door closed on that train so they took it out of service and all those people had to join us on the platform. That's when we quit and went out for brunch.
As we were leaving the line to get into the station was even LONGER even though it was past noon by then. I thought I took a picture of both halves but I guess I didn't. On the other side the line goes for about a block and then it loops around and comes back to here. Once you get in that tiny black box there is still a long hallway before the individual lines. So, I definitely feel that I got the gist of the rally just from spending 2.5 hours at the West Falls Church metro station. Basically, it was supercrowded and some people were funny and a lot of people thought they were funny. Hurrah for Sanity/Fear!
